Marc has been operating within emerging markets for over 15 years and has been actively involved in developmental finance as it has transitioned into what is now referred to as ESG.

Marc's practice can be described as a sector agnostic general finance practice, with an increased focuss on ESG and emerging markets. His general skillset allows him to operate within most forms of debt finance, which includes, but is not limited to: syndicated loans, developmental loans, credit mitigation structures, bank to bank lending, public sector loans and credit enhancement structures. In addition to transactional advice, Marc provides internal ESG overlay on transactions, on both the sponsor and lender side. This includes assisting clients in navigating the sustainable finance spectrum and narrative; assisting with internal taxonomies which track the UN SDGs and the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Finance; and dealing with third party providers with carbon capturing and measurement methodologies.

Marc also worked at the African Development Bank in Abidjan, and was a also a founding member of the Standard Chartered Sustainable Finance Team. He has been extensively published on matters relating to emerging markets and ESG, as has spoken at numerous conferences on both these subjects.

  • Represented a large African development finance institution on a $1 billon de-risking instrument which related to a portfolio of sustainable agricultural assets throughout Africa
  • Represented a large African development finance institution on a $40 million co-guarantee instrument which allowed loans to be made to small produce farmers in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Morocco
  • Represented a private credit fund on a $100 million facility to create and distribute portable solar panels in Cameroon
  • Represented a large African development finance institution on a $200 million bank to bank facility made available to a corporate bank in Kenya
  • Represented Represented a large African development finance institution on a $150 million facility made to a corporate bank in Ghana
  • Represented a large African development finance institution on $250 million facility for purposes of funding sustainable infrastructure projects in Ghana
  • Represented a large America energy company on its first ever ESG facility, which was for an amount up to $500 million
  • Represented a large UK bank on multiple  loans to assist with Covid-19 vaccine rollout in various developing countries
