Qing is a Tax Director in the Private Client team and Head of China. She specialises in advising multinational companies and individuals expanding overseas from a tax and people perspective.

Qing has a wide-ranging experience as a dual-qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant, with 20 years of expertise in practicing tax law in both the UK and China.

Qing specialises in advising multi-national companies and individuals on setting up and expanding their businesses overseas, and takes a holistic approach by liaising with experts in various legal fields to provide a seamless, comprehensive tax and legal service to her clients seeking a one-stop solution. Prior to joining Howard Kennedy, Qing was a Tax Director at PwC UK, where she supported many international businesses, senior executives, expatriates and private clients moving to and investing in the UK. Qing also specialises in the higher education sector, advising universities on international strategies and their cross-border compliance.

Qing works with a wide range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals from China and internationally, as well as large public institutions and privately owned companies. With extensive experience in the Chinese and Asia markets, Qing is well-placed to bridge the gap between different cultures and provide over 18 years of localised knowledge and practical experience to help Chinese and Asian clients develop their international markets.

  • Advising an international company on its first-time setting up in the UK, covering key legal requirements related to corporate structure, tax compliance, employment law and immigration regulations.
  • Advising an individual on their move from Asia to the UK, including pre-arrival tax planning and long-term inheritance tax planning for overseas assets.
  • Advising a UK-resident international family on their wealth planning, including the family business in their home country, property and business investments in the UK, and family wealth succession planning from a tax perspective, as well as assisting with the preparation of necessary legal documents.
  • Acting for several companies in relation to tax inquiries from HMRC concerning offshore payments and benefits provided to their international senior executives and expatriates in the UK.
  • Advising a UK organisation with employees working remotely outside of the UK on their remote working policies and cross-border tax, employment and immigration compliance.
  • Advising an international company on their post-acquisition people-related tax, employment and immigration planning and compliance following the acquisition of a UK business.
